Guild Wars Question
Hello,
I was thinking about getting guildwars (over WoW) andI have read many forums, but still don't know if I should waste 50 bucks. People say that it gets boring really fast, ect. I want a good role playing game, really fun, big community, lots to do, almost never get bored of it. Can anyone say feedback me saying why I should get it? Thanks, Arnack |

its not a rpg in the wow or eq fashion. there is a level cap at 20 but other things to get after that. i consider it a large map, with new FREE areas coming out in august. an expansion coming out later. (not sure when) there are 6 classes of to choose from, and once you pick your primary profession you pick a secondary from the remaining 5. so out of the 4 characters you are aloted to have many options. you can also creat a pvp only character. i really like this game, it is more mind oriented then work oriented. you can grind and farm all you want and you wont be any better then the person who is equal in levels but pays attention to skills and strategy. as far as the community goes, i think its pretty large and 80% helpful and friendly. The #1 thing i like. NO MONTHLY FEE!

lol Asking how Guild Wars is on a Guild Wars forum? That's not so smart. (Almost) everyone plays Guild Wars here and likes it enough to be on a forum, it's quite obvious that they would say that this game is great

If you play like most casual players do, e.g. test several characters, take a while longer to complete some missions, do some non-storyline quests etc, then you're looking at an easy 100 hours, or 4 weeks at 4 hours per day.* Mind you, reaching lvl 20 and ascending isn't the end of the game. There's plenty of stuff left to do, both in PvE (player versus environment) and PvP (player versus player). FWIW, I've probably logged 200 hours by now, and I've still not tired of the game. In short, it doesn't offer infinite PvE gaming, and in all probability you'll tire of it in a couple of months, but if you at all like RPG's you're likely to get your moneys worth from this game in spades. Here's a tip, though: don't let high-level players pressure you into rushing. Play your first character through without taking any "shortcuts", don't be in a hurry. You'll get there. It is possible to bypass most of the PvE content, but the only thing you'll achieve is that you don't get your money's worth. * and I'm really not interested in hearing from you guys who completed the game in 8 hours, three weeks before it was even released, blindfolded, and while learning to play the piano. You're extreme, and you know it. |

thats 3xtr3m3! and honestly, 1 of the funniest things i have read today! but i agree, dont rush. just play the game, do the missions. hell, before the major story line kicked in i was already level 10! but the level doesnt help if you dont know how to use it! |

Ive logged nearly 500 hours on the game and just ascended my second character, i still play my first which has nearly 750,000 xp (lvl 20 is 140k) it can be any secondary proffesion and i can gather skills from each. This game is not about pve grind though, so the game can go by rather quick, but there is a lot of pvp options as well as a few pve.
This game is centered around pvp, so if you dont like killing other people on a level playing field, this game prolly isnt for you |

if all youre going to do to a character is make them lvl 20 and quit, thats easy but there is a ton of things to do after lvl 20 thats basically the beginnning, ive played with my character for like 60 hours to get them to lvl 20, ya thats a while i got the game early and there werent many ppl that were lvl 20, anyways ive played around 400 hours after i got that char to lvl 20. and theres always something you can do, get fissure armor, finish all quests, pvp, it goes on and on to sum it up i like the game.

EQ2 is similar to WoW. I prefered the EQ2 style playing to GW. Seems GW has a lot younger and immature gamers in it. When Sony gutted SWG, we left both games, and settled on GW. After lvl 20, and you run thru the story line is where GW gets good. A lot of past player friend, play WoW or EQ2 and use GW as a side game, when they are stck or bored with thier main game. We are waiting for the next generation on on-liners to come out next year and see what they bring. |
